2024

Q4 2024

R382 — 2024-12-20

  • Report Context Menu updates — reports gain Edit Report (open the builder, change the definition, re-execute, then Replace onto the Dashboard — with a prompt if you try to leave unsaved visualization changes behind), Rename Report (name and description in a popup), Save Changes (persist visualization changes, also available as a new Save button in the Report Builder), and Duplicate Report (copy onto the same Dashboard for variations). Restricted to Dashboard Owners, Managers and Editors; Viewers cannot save changes or modify a Dashboard.
  • Click a Report header to open the builder — clicking the Report title jumps straight to the Report Builder; the Information Icon still gives the quick glance at how it was made.
  • View Only Mode — opening a Report you do not own lands you in a view-only builder where visualization changes are possible but unsavable; Duplicate Report generates an equivalent report you do own, so teammates cannot inadvertently alter someone else's visualization.

R381 — 2024-12-13

  • All report types visible in Query — every Report Type appears in the drop-down by default. Reports with a Breakdown and a Sum, Average, Max, Min Value, Median or Percentile Measure switch Overall on automatically, unlocking Line, Bar, Metric, Stacked Column, Percentage Area and Pie without extra setup; for Count Events, Unique Users or Unique Values the Overall toggle stays manual and is only needed past 100 Breakdown categories. Without a Breakdown, Stacked Column, Percentage Area and Pie grey out.
  • Dynamic date optionsLast, Last Full, Since and Start Of re-evaluate on every run, which matters for scheduled reports with long lookback windows and for "set it and forget it" Dashboards. A new report header distinguishes granularity, dynamic versus fixed ranges, and the dates covered.
  • Edit Derived Field definitions — update a Derived Field's Definition from the Data Modeler, bearing in mind that doing so changes every Report relying on it.
  • Schema descriptions — add a description beneath Schema Name on the Data Modeler's Configuration page; it surfaces in the Schema's tooltip during selection.

R380 — 2024-12-05

R378 — 2024-11-22

  • Set Dashboard Filters — an Owner, Manager or Editor can Set Filters as a template by adding Fields, choosing "Any", then selecting Set Filters; users then supply values without hunting for ones that work. Viewers cannot Set Filters but can still create and run regular ones, and Filters cannot be Set or run on Dashboards mixing reports from different Schemas. (walkthrough video)
  • Filter Inspect columns — choose which columns appear in "Inspect Users" instead of seeing every one, speeding up troubleshooting.

R377 — 2024-11-14

  • Update Derived Column definitions — a Derived Column's logic can be edited in the Data Modeler rather than being fixed at creation, making mistakes and changing requirements fixable.

R376 — 2024-11-08

  • Quick editing of Dashboards — drag, drop, add reports and add images, text or video without first clicking 'Edit Layout'; every change autosaves. Requires Edit or Owner permission.
  • Smoother Cohort saving — creating a Cohort by right-clicking a data point, or from a Measure or Breakdown action menu, now builds it in place instead of pulling you into the Cohort builder.
  • Default Conversion Rate in Admin Settings — Admins can set Absolute or Relative as the default for all future Funnel reports, rather than overriding Relative on each report. Requires Admin permissions.

R375 — 2024-10-31

  • Compare in Data Table — compare a Data Table measure against the previous day, week, month, quarter, year or a custom range, shown as raw numbers and as percent change.

R374 — 2024-10-24

  • Personal Settings — under your user icon, My Profile shows your groups, roles, defaults and permissions at a glance, while Preferences sets your default Schema (from those enabled in the Data Modeler), View (Managed for *Managed-tagged items only, or Standard for everything in the Schema), and whether the Quick Access Dictionary opens Expanded or Collapsed.

R373 — 2024-10-17

  • Invite new users — Admins can invite anyone in their organization from Admin Settings > Invite New User by specifying an email address and Role, pre-setting roles before first login. Your IT team still controls access; a "403 Forbidden" on login is theirs to resolve.

R372 — 2024-10-11

  • Managed Dictionary View — tag items with the provided "* Managed" tag to build a curated view of Events, Fields, Measures and Cohorts, selectable from the drop-down at the top of the Quick Access Dictionary — a gentler entry point for new users in data-heavy environments.
  • Shared Dashboards section — a new sidebar section beside Published, Favorite and My Dashboards collects Dashboards other creators shared with you.
  • Report granularity moved out of the date options — the granularity drop-down moves outside the date options to make its role obvious to new users.

R371 — 2024-10-03

  • Clicked links autoscroll to Reports — following a link to a Dashboard report scrolls to it rather than merely highlighting it.
  • Cancel report executions — cancel a running report instead of waiting out an expensive query, freeing you to keep editing; if it cannot be stopped you get "Your query could not be cancelled".

Q3 2024

Kubit UI Refresh — 2024-09-26

  • Refreshed navigation and UI — announced ahead of a Sep 26 launch: the left navigation is redistributed across the top of the product, with Dashboard, Reports, Cohorts and Workspaces on the left and Data Management (Dictionary, Incidents, Schedules) on the right. A Help (?) icon in the top-right nav links to documentation and resources, and Admin options move under the user icon. Report-building functionality is unchanged.

R369 — 2024-09-16

  • Replacing Reports on a Dashboard — a Dashboard report's three-dot menu gains "Edit Report"; after changing and rerunning it, "Replace" swaps the old report for the new one directly.

R368 — 2024-09-12

R367 — 2024-09-05

  • Array filter selection — expand and collapse Array Filters to show or hide their objects, and favorite and tag those objects in the Dictionary.
  • Virtual Event updates preserve metadata — updating a Virtual Event's definition keeps its existing description and tags instead of demanding they be set again.
  • Quick Dashboard insights — two bubbles beside the User Access icon show the Dashboard's owner and who updated it last.

R366 — 2024-08-29

  • Create a Dashboard from the sidebar — "+ New Dashboard" creates a Dashboard rather than a folder, saved automatically to "My Dashboards".
  • Add content directly from a Dashboard — a fresh Dashboard offers an "Add Content" section for Text, Images, Media, finding existing Reports in Global Search, or jumping straight into a report type, removing the detour through the Report activity.
  • Favorite Dashboards — favorite and unfavorite Dashboards from the three-dot menu on their card; favorites collect in a new section at the top of the sidebar and are reachable from the star in the top right.
  • Collapsible Dashboard sections — the sidebar sorts into Favorite Dashboards, My Dashboards (yours, published and unpublished), and Published Dashboards (the default everyone sees).
  • Dashboard and folder management menus — new three-dot menus create Folders (only within Published Dashboards), rename and delete folders, and Copy URL, Favorite, Publish, Move, Duplicate or Delete a Dashboard, greying out anything your permissions or ownership disallow.
  • Dashboard Permissions — Entity Permissions replace Locked Dashboards with four roles: Owner (full control including delete), Manager (everything but delete), Editor (edit only, no access changes or schedules), and Viewer (view, refresh, filter — the default for everyone). Set them via the people icon under the Dashboard filter icon.
  • Admin permissions for Dashboard actions — separate permission checks now gate Move/Publish and Delete on a Dashboard, granted automatically to Admins and Governors, to keep the Published Dashboards section maintainable.

R364 — 2024-08-15

  • Images on Dashboards — add gifs or static images to a Dashboard, rounding out text and video for at-a-glance context.
  • Favorites search button — the star icon opens Universal Search directly onto your favorite Reports, Events, Cohorts and Measures.
  • Dashboards remember where you were — returning to the Dashboards activity reopens the Dashboard you had last, instead of resetting to a default.

R363 — 2024-08-08

  • Date, time, number and currency formats — set instance-wide formats in the Admin panel: four date formats (MM/DD/YYYY, YYYY-MM-DD, DD.MM.YYYY, DD/MM/YYYY), 12- or 24-hour time, four number groupings drawn from 11 locales (1,234.56, 1.234,56, 1 234,56, 1234,56), and a currency symbol among USD, GBP, EUR, AUD, JPY, CAN and DKK. Currency changes the symbol only and does not convert values, and every setting affects the entire Kubit instance.

R362 — 2024-08-01

  • Embed media on Dashboards — embed Loom and YouTube media on a Dashboard, available alongside text in the editing workflow.

R360 — 2024-07-18

  • Tagging in the save workflow — tag Measures, Bins, Cohorts, Virtual Events and Named Filters as you save them instead of returning to the Dictionary, and update an existing item's tags from the same menus via "Apply Tags".

R359 — 2024-07-11

  • View SQL in Kubit — read the SQL behind a report in a pop-up window rather than pasting it elsewhere, with a "Copy SQL" button at the bottom right if you still want it out.
  • Add text anywhere on a Dashboard — insert text into any row or column rather than only at the bottom, as long as the row has fewer than three columns.

Q2 2024

R357 — 2024-06-27

R356 — 2024-06-20

  • Rich Text on Dashboards — add text blocks with font size, bold, italic, underline, highlight, alignment, bulleted and numbered lists, indentation, headers and links, via Edit Dashboard > Add Content > Text; the bubbles move around like Reports.
  • Quick Access Dictionary — reach the Dictionary from any report through the book icon in the top right, browsing and searching Events, Measures, Fields and Cohorts, each tab filterable by All / Virtual / Favorited / Named / Tags, with per-item tags, description and a favoriting star.

R355 — 2024-06-13

  • Universal Search — search Dashboards, Reports, Cohorts and Measures from the bar at the top of every page, filtering by Content Type, Last Updated, Schema, Report Type, Content Creator and Tags.
  • Dashboard cell resizing — resize reports on a Dashboard both vertically and horizontally.

R353 — 2024-05-30

  • Carry report settings across report types — a new "Next Steps" section at the bottom of each report type switches you to another type while preserving measures, filters, breakdowns, segments and date range, instead of starting over from the sidebar.

R350 — 2024-05-09

  • Math formulas with Measures — Compound Measures move beyond add and divide to full formulas with subtraction and multiplication plus max(A,B), min(A,B), ifnull(A, <default>), sum(measures), ceil(A, <scale>), round(A, <scale>), floor(A, <scale>), pow(A, x) and sqrt(A), specified at the bottom of the measures section in Query.
  • Drag and drop table cell headers — reorder Query table cell headers to organize the visualization.
  • Favorite content — star Named Measures, Filters, Cohorts, Fields and Events to collect them under a "Favorites" category that behaves like a tag.

R348 — 2024-04-25

R347 — 2024-04-18

  • Lock Start Date for Chart and Dashboard Schedules — a schedule can pin its start date so each run appends a day, week or month to the range instead of rolling the whole window forward — built for feature launches, experiments and campaigns where the start must persist. Once 30 days separate the locked start from the appended end, the window begins rolling forward again at the chosen frequency.

R346 — 2024-04-11

  • Info icon removed from builder headers — the information icon disappears from report and Cohort headers while in the builder, where the same information is already on screen; it still appears once a report sits on a Dashboard.
  • Simplified Replace on Dashboard — "Replace in Dashboard" is now just "Replace": open a Dashboard report via its Information Icon and "Show in Report", edit, re-execute, then Replace.

R345 — 2024-04-04

  • Tag Events in the Dictionary — group events into categories with multiple tags apiece, hashtag-style, created and applied from Dictionary > Events via the Tag column and "Apply Tags". Tagged events then appear as logical groups in the event widget. Only Admin and Governor roles can create or modify Tags; everyone can see them.
  • Updated Filter widget — building a complex filter no longer requires clicking in and out of the selection widget repeatedly.
  • Dashboard link filters are visible — temporary filters applied to a Dashboard now travel with its shared link, so recipients see the filtered version you meant to send.

Q1 2024

R343 — 2024-03-21

  • Edit descriptions in the Dictionary — update Event, Measure, Virtual Event and Saved Filter descriptions directly in the Dictionary UI, and see them on hover in the Report builder. Event descriptions synced from your Cloud Data Warehouse stay read-only to preserve the source of truth; Virtual Events, Filters and Measures remain editable. Editing requires Edit permission on the object.
  • Average Retention row — the Retention Box visualization gains an Average row at the top, so "what is my average Day 1 retention?" no longer needs a second report.

R341 — 2024-03-07

  • Rename a Dashboard inline — click the Dashboard name to edit and save it on the spot, as with any chart.
  • Cohort promoted to the sidebar — Cohort leaves the Report menu for the navigation sidebar, offering View Cohorts to browse everything in the environment (filterable to those created by you) and Create Cohort to define and save new ones.

R338 — 2024-02-08

  • Roles and Permissions — a new Admin panel, found in the left nav under "Incidents" and visible only to Admins, manages user access, Roles defining types of access, and User Groups for bulk assignment, including custom Roles and Permission Groups.
  • Locked columns in Dashboard Table view — a Query in Table view on a Dashboard now locks its leading Measure and Breakdown columns, matching the behavior in Query.
  • Additional Settings drop-down — advanced per-report options such as Sampling move into an "Additional Settings" drop-down; check the ones you want, click Confirm, and they appear in the top settings row and stay visible to anyone who sees the executed report.

R334 — 2024-01-19

  • New event selection experience — the event widget now separates All Events, Basic Events (from your own data), and Virtual Events (defined in Kubit), and hovering a selected event pops out its description. Descriptions require the Dictionary add-on. Multiple events are still added by reopening the widget.
  • Report descriptions on Dashboards — report descriptions are editable directly on the Dashboard and visible at first glance rather than hidden behind a click.

R333 — 2024-01-11

  • Rename Data Table columns — rename a column from the three-dot menu beside its name, for events with unhelpful or near-identical names.
  • Format Data Table measures — format a Measure or Compound Measure result as %, $ or #, with control over precision and additional calculations.

R332 — 2024-01-05

  • Custom colors for Groups and Measures — set your own colors for Breakdown Groups, or for individual Measures and Funnel steps when there is no Breakdown, so two reports sharing a Breakdown stop disagreeing about color on the same Dashboard. Colors may repeat across items, apply to every chart type (line, bar, stacked bar), and autosave.
